Succulents in Heart Shaped Porcelain Container
I picked up this container at a store one time just because I thought it was unique and pretty. I can always use little things to add to groupings in my décor. One day when I was doing a lot of plantings I walked by it and grabbed it thinking of the little succulents I needed to plant that afternoon. I was concerned about water collecting in it since it wasn’t very deep so my husband, John, drilled holes in it with a special diamond tipped whole saw. He also uses that saw with tile. He managed to pour a steady stream of water where he was drilling while he was drilling. So far so good. I changed the succulents as they got bigger to small ones again, just because that’s what I do. I’m always changing things. During early fall, I start to think about bringing most of my succulents inside, so they don’t freeze. Some varieties, like hens and chicks, stop growing in the winter but don’t die, but other varieties will freeze and die.
